Venus Williams was born June 17, 1980 in Lynwood, Calif. wanting one of his kids to grow up a tennis player Richard Williams would teach Venus how to play tennis on the public tennis courts in Compton. This started when Venus Williams was four. As a kid Venus Williams also a pretty good track runner but gave it up to focus on Tennis. Venus Williams played in played in the junior tennis circuit as a kid. In the July 3, 1990 issue of the The New York Times she was featured as being undeated and having a bright future. on January 1, 1994 Venus Williams goes pro. That Oct she wins her first pro match playing the Bank of the West Classic. In the Australian Open of 98, Venus Williams wins against her sister. This was the 1st time they played agianst each other as pros. Venus Williams wins her first pro title in the 98 IGA Tennis Classic. also teams up with Serena in the doubles to get their 1st title. March 28, 1999 Venus beats Serena in the Lipton Championships/ in 2000 Venus Williams becomes the no 2 seed and is the 2nd player to win Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and the Olympics in the same year.
